Why Stardew Valley is the Ultimate Relaxation Game
Indie Games/Life Simulator: Why Stardew Valley is the Ultimate Relaxation Game. Actually, it is a game in which you can live your wildest fantasies, like:
- Making friends
- Earning a living wage
- Going out in the open
- Owning a home
- Finding a romantic partner to marry
- Being valued by your community.
Don’t forget the best thing ever. Everyone actually loves you in a romantic way and wants you. To think some dude made this alone while his girlfriend provided economically for the cause of its development is crazy. How well it turned out. Masterpiece. That’s true love ❤️. She believed in him so much and won.
Eric Barone made this game by himself. I read that he worked 12-hour days, 7 days a week, for 4 years. Just incredible, and a testament to what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
No matter how many ‘better’ or deeper games have come out, none of them will capture the charm of Stardew Valley. And what’s so special about it? The fusion of visuals, soundtrack, characters, and feel. It doesn’t feel like a game made for the sake of being a game; it feels like someone’s passion project. The dev is super supportive of mods; he even did an entire update to make modding easier.
Why Stardew Valley is the Ultimate Relaxation Game
Never expect in my 20 years of gaming experience that some indie games would make my top 10 video games of all time; Stardew Valley, Terraria, Darkest Dungeon 1, and Shadow Tactics are all incredible games. Part of the fun is progressing through the game and discovering things you didn’t know were possible. Sure, an online guide helps speed up the process, but stumbling upon things is the beauty of Stardew Valley.
This is what happens once in a decade maybe: Minecraft, Stardew Valley, one or two others. I can’t think of anyone but people who come from my generation who played games like Harvest Moon as the dev loved, and I still play the original Harvest Moon on Game Boy Color. It’s passion like this that makes games. If you were not around during the Game Boy era, oh boy, those were the times. This day and age, microtransactions and gold editions are fed up. I own 2 copies on Switch and 3 on PC for me, my wife, and the kids.
More Than Just Farming
Stardew Valley is the most magical game I have ever played. It is practically oozing with personality and charm. One of the best games ever made, period.
From a design standpoint, one thing that sets Stardew apart from other farming sims is that huge first map and the level of customization available. It gives the player a sense of possibility throughout the whole experience. Other farming sims seem to miss this, and it’s why Stardew does so much better.
Honestly, the ease of looking up information your character knows is so important for enjoying the game. Most games like this require you to remember how much an item costs or how many days to water with that information being hidden away at the shop only.
For me, it’s the vibe. The world the game depicts. Everything is clean, pure, colorful, and natural. People enjoy life as simple as it is. This game gives me some feeling I can’t find the word.
We should celebrate every time creativity and passion wins over corporate greed. And this is what happened with this game. The dude that created this masterpiece put so many corps into shame. Well they put themselves in shame but you catch my drift. Stardew Valley for life.
