Slay the Spire Review: Hours of Entertainment
Indie Games – Slay the Spire Review: Hours of Entertainment.
Slay The Spire is a roguelike deck-building game that’s going to draw you in for hundreds of hours. This review for Slay The Spire is a deep dive to try and show how good it actually is. I finished the game using the Defect class. The class really makes the game easier.
It can be frustrating at times when the RNG really works against you but then thats a rogue like. If you are into rogue likes, definitely get this.
This is perfect for the Steam Deck, alongside ‘Hades’ another game that runs perfect and being able to just play anywhere is even better. Quick run while on the bus/train/plane is sick. Absolutely worth getting, the base game + mods make it infinitely re-playable.
Slay the Spire Review: Hours of Entertainment
The ONLY problem I have with the game is that sometimes enemies simply feel like damage/block checks. It is way more important to build a competent deck rather than playing the fights well, especially against Elites which often deal more damage than bosses (for the tool at your disposal).
I can see the appeal of combining deck building and rogue dungeons, but for me, the most fun aspect of deck building is getting rare cards and building stronger decks to go against opponents with equally stronger decks. The selling point of this game is the variety each run offers, which I vastly enjoy in other types of roguelikes, but not in card games.
Overall, Loved the game. Been playing since last year. At first just trying out of curiosity because i like card game. But i think i loved it more than any other card game. It’s such a hard game at first(it took me three run just to beat the act 3 boss for the first time) but after that it just straight blast. And the feeling of being able go get some of the disgusting combo is just awesome
