Marvel’s Thunderbolts: A New Team Takes Shape

MCU: Entertainment Weekly has new look at Marvel Studios Thunderbolts!

The film will feature the talents of Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Chris Bauer. Thunderbolts movie opens in theaters on May 2, 2025.

Note that, they better not ruin The Thunderbolts. The comic version was all about villains trying to redeem themselves as heroes. They are my favorite Marvel team. Bucky Barnes showing off his super soldier strength is so badass. It’s why he is in my top ten favorite marvel characters.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts: A New Team Takes Shape

For those who are not in the comics, the Thunderbolts are sort of like the Suicide Squad of Marvel, except the Thunderbolts are in-universe intended to be a substitute for the Avengers in times when they are disbanded, missing, or all dead. They are comprised of heroes whose powers and abilities can mimic and serve as a substitute for the original Avengers. For example, Yelena is filling in for her sister, Bucky is filling in for Cap, and Bob, aka Sentry, is filling in for Thor.

The comics line had a counterpart for Wolverine, who was sometimes X-23 and sometimes Wolverine’s Japanese son. This is going to be a lineup of some of the best anti-heroes Marvel has to offer, with a generally more heroic lean than the Suicide Squad, which is primarily composed of actual villains.
