iPhone Upgrade Slump: Is Apple Intelligence Falling Short?

About – iPhone Upgrade Slump: Is Apple Intelligence Falling Short?

Reports say Apple Intelligence isn’t pushing enough iPhone upgrades. For example, I upgraded but switched it off as soon as I could. It takes up too much space and really feels like the kind of bloatware you’d expect from a low-end Android device. Image playground is a joke. It’s something you put on your kid’s phone to keep them distracted on a short car ride. I’m really not interested in AI on my phone other than my Grok app. I’m certainly not updating solely because of a new AII feature from the OEM.

People who have the Apple intelligence-supported devices either don’t know or don’t care about it. Many people in my family have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer or an M-series/A17 Pro iPad mini or a MacBook supporting Apple intelligence, but they don’t even know about it or care about it. Apple hasn’t fully unleashed the power of Apple intelligence yet, but in the coming years I’m sure it will be something that makes users switch.

The biggest features, like “Siri 2.0,” aren’t there. It literally does not exist, even on the developer betas. You can’t even ask Siri to do something specific, only some commands like playing songs from Apple Music or Spotify, but it can’t do another task. Nothing changed, just minor things. I don’t plan on upgrading my phone for some years unless this thing starts malfunctioning.

They’re just taking a bit more time to fine-tune their AI functionalities. The features that have been released are, at present, somewhat average. Well, I wouldn’t even call them average—their AI-powered features are half-baked, and it shows in their execution.

Definitely, it will be a game changer when they upgrade Apple Intelligence, maybe to a 2.0. Nevertheless, AI features specifically for video, audio, and image editing have the capacity to be truly groundbreaking.

Final thoughts:

I upgraded to be able to use Apple Intelligence. Honest opinion: it wasn’t worth it. Maybe it will be one day, but right now, it feels like a ploy to not be left behind in the AI discussion.
