Apple Developing Smart Doorbell with Integrated Face ID

Gadgets/Tech News: Apple Developing Smart Doorbell with Integrated Face ID. Great, they already have the Apple Home Kit platform. Start making products that would further develops that ecosystem. I’m tired of every security product I buy being discontinued within 2 years. Apple should provide some longevity.

The device will have a roughly 6-inch display and a new operating system built to control the home, run FaceTime and play video. Apple $AAPL is also developing several related products, including an in-home security camera that’s designed to work with its hub.

Apple‘s move into facial recognition for home security could be huge for convenience but raises privacy concerns. Are we ready for that level of surveillance? If Apple does go into home security cameras, I hope they go all in with both indoor & outdoor cameras, floodlights as well as the doorbell.

More Updates:

Apple has reportedly cancelled plans to launch an iPhone subscription service after two years of development. Good, they don’t need a subscription service for having an iPhone. That’s beyond ridiculous. Services are one thing, but actual phones are another. Subscriptions aren’t the answer to everything. And it’s totally fine.

But for me, it is surprising! I thought a subscription service would be a game-changer. Guess Apple is playing it safe for now. Trade in a recent phone with a carrier and get a brand new one essentially for free; keep that for 3 years (still fully functional) and trade in for an essentially free new one again. It’s pretty simple.
